Somebody's O-N-E!

Hudson's 1st Birthday
April 23, 2011

Our baby boy is no longer a baby anymore. Hudson turned ONE on Saturday, April 23rd. I can't believe its already been a whole year! It went by so super fast.

We celebrated the occasion at Riverdale Park with several friends on Saturday. Hudson L-O-V-E-S the park so naturally we saw it fitting to have his birthday party there. Thankfully the weather was good. Warm, sunny, no rain - just a little wind. And we had a great turnout. Our family is incredibly blessed to have so many wonderful friends in our lives. Thank you to everyone who came to wish our buddy boy a very happy 1st birthday.

Here are a few pics from the big day. We love you Hudson Andrew Miller and hope you enjoyed your big birthday celebration! We know you won't remember it but at least we have pictures right? Happy 1st birthday sweet boy!

Easter Sunday, Easter Bunny

Easter Sunday
April 24, 2011

1Cross, 3Nails, 4Forgiven

I just loved that phrase so when I came across it today I just had to steal it! How perfect is this reminder for today and everyday for that matter. It paints such a vivid picture in my mind of Jesus' death on the cross and the true meaning of "Easter Weekend."

My initial thought when I think of the cross is Jesus' death and crucifixion, which of course brings about feelings of sadness, humility, unworthiness.

Then I am reminded that He conquered that indescribable death, defied the odds, fulfilled the prophesy, rose from the dead. Amazing! And because He bore the sins of mankind, His blood covers us and makes us forgiven in the eyes of the Lord. Unbelievable!

Why do you look for the living among the dead?
He is not here; he has risen!
-Matthew 24:5

I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around it sometimes. It just seems too much. But the fact of the matter is this - Jesus died on that cross and bore my ugly sins so that I might be forgiven, cleansed of unrighteousness, and ultimately live eternally with Him in heaven. Very cool.

God made him who knew no sin
to be sin for us, so that in him
we might become the righteousness of God
-2 Corinthians 5:21

My prayer is that we all take some time to remember this good news not only during Easter but really make it a priority to remember throughout the entire year. When circumstances are crummy, on good days, on bad days, during spiritual highs and lows. I know I need that reminder myself most days:)

Easter Bunny
April 22, 2011

Took Buddy to meet the Easter Bunny at the Collierville Mall on Friday. I was pleasantly surprised at how well Mr. Hudson accepted EB.

He sort of like EB we think:)
Next year might be a different story

Clapping for EB

Then we went to an Easter Egg Hunt at the Wingo's house later that afternoon. Had a great time with great friends. I am so thankful to have these people in my life. I really value their friendship and have so much fun spending time with them and their children. It was a Good, Good Friday!

Oh My....

I knew one day he'd discover it. Toilet paper that is. It's his new obsession while playing in the bathroom. And I just couldn't help but laugh when I caught him today. That little stink!

As my husband likes to say
Oh my.......

Nana and Papa

Nana and Papa's visit to Memphis
April 15-April 17

So my Dad and Dana decided to come to Memphis to see Hudson before his actual birthday so that they would have more one on one time to spend with him. Basically because next weekend we're going to be crazy busy. We've got an Easter Egg Hunt with friends on Friday, Buddy's party on Saturday, and then of course Sunday it's Easter! So it was probably best that they got to come and spend some QT with him while they were able.

Hudson had a great time visiting with his Nana and Papa. They got him a Radio Flyer wagon for his birthday and daddy put it together so Buddy could try it out. He L-O-V-E-D it which is pretty much what we expected:) So glad we had the chance to spend time with them. Looking forward to our annual trip to the beach in about a month! Thanks for coming to visit Nana and Papa!

Say it Ain't So

I have an almost ONE YEAR OLD! That is so crazy to think. People always told me when I was pregnant  to "savor every moment" because "time flies by so fast" and before you know it your child has grown up "in the blink of an eye"...

seriously? trying to walk.
Perfect example of time flying by too fast

Caught ya! My attempt to savor this sweet smile for as long as I can.

I blinked and he was gone from the kitchen.
Found him playing in his room with a furry friend.

So cliche those sayings - but oh, so true. Like most things in my life I should've listened more closely and taken that advice to heart. I mean, I have a bazillion pictures of Buddy up to this point but looking back, I regret not keeping a journal or jotting down those huge baby milestones they talk about like the first time Hudson smiled, rolled over, slept through the night, or said "mama." I have a blog I guess for those purposes but this blog is not something I update all that regularly and if I had to do it daily, well that just makes my head spin.

So anyway - my advice for those of you who are expecting - take the time to remember the small, seemingly insignificant things the first year of your child's life. Or even during pregnancy for that matter. Jot it down, buy a book or journal, blog, take pictures, whatever tickles your fancy but just do it! That is my 2 cents. Here is a poplar book/journal that I'd like to purchase next time around. It's the Pregnancy Journal. They have one for Baby's First Year as well.
